Privacy policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
This policy says what Notch collects on wearnotch.com, in the app and from the sensors, what it is used for, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Notch Interfaces Inc., a Delaware corporation based in Brooklyn, New York, decides how the data described here is used. For anything about your data, write to connect@wearnotch.com.
The list on our site
When you join the list on wearnotch.com, we collect your email address and which button on the site you joined from. After that the form asks for your first name and your country; both are optional, and you can skip them.
We use them to email you about pre-orders and the launch of the Kit, to address you by name, to see which countries to ship to first, and to see which part of the site people join from.
The form runs on Netlify, which hosts the site and keeps the submissions. Netlify also records the IP address of a submission to filter spam. We copy the list into the email service we send our emails with, and into nothing else.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. To have your address deleted from the list altogether, write to connect@wearnotch.com.
We keep your place on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we stop selling the Kit. We do not sell the list, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
If you live in the EU or the UK, we email you on the basis of your consent, given when you join. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link.
What we collect in the app
Movement data from the sensors: how far, how fast and how long you moved on every rep, and the scores computed from it.
What you enter in the app: the exercises, weights, reps and RPE you log, and the program you follow.
Account details: your name and email address, or the relay address Sign in with Apple gives us.
What you tell us at onboarding, such as body weight, height, training experience and any injuries you choose to add.
Device and diagnostics data: the iPhone model and system version, the sensors' firmware, and crash reports.
When you buy, our payment processor handles the card; we receive the order, the amount and the shipping address, not the full card number.
Movement data and your health
Movement data describes how your body moved during a set. It is not a medical record, and Notch does not diagnose or treat anything.
Some of it can still say something about your body, such as a shorter range of motion on one side, or an injury you tell the app about. We treat movement data and injury notes as sensitive. We use them only to give you training feedback, with your consent, and never for advertising.
What it is used for
To score your reps, write the feedback after a set and a workout, suggest the next weight and keep your history.
To answer you when you write to us, and to tell you about changes to the app, the plan or this policy.
To improve the analysis, using movement data with your name and contact details taken off. If you would rather we did not use yours, write to connect@wearnotch.com and we stop.
To send app users news about Notch, only if you agree to it. Every such email has an unsubscribe link.
Who it is shared with
We share data with companies that run parts of Notch for us, and only so they can do that work: Netlify, which hosts the site and the list form, and the services that host the app's data, send our emails, take payments and collect crash reports.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
If you connect the app to Apple Health, it exchanges only the data you allow when you connect it, such as workouts and body weight. You can change or turn this off at any time in the Health app.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the company. In a sale, this policy keeps applying to the data.
Cookies and site analytics
wearnotch.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Netlify, which serves the site, keeps standard request logs, such as IP addresses and the pages asked for, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
How long it is kept
We keep data as long as we need it for the reasons above, or longer where the law requires it, for example for tax records.
Movement data and account data are kept while you have an account. When you delete it, we delete them within 30 days, and from our backups within 90 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to connect@wearnotch.com; we may ask you to confirm it is you first, and we reply within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for asking.
If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut or Virginia, you may also have the right to know what we collect and why, to opt out of the sale of your data and of targeted advertising, to limit the use of sensitive data, and to appeal if we turn a request down. To appeal, reply to our answer and say so.
If you live in Washington or Nevada, this policy is also our notice about consumer health data: what we collect, why, who it goes to and how to exercise your rights are as described here.
If you live in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, we use your data to provide what you asked for, with your consent, or for our legitimate interest in running and improving Notch. You also have the right to object to some uses, to restrict them, to take your data to another service, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection authority.
Where the data is stored
Your data is stored in the United States. If you send it to us from the EU or the UK, we protect the transfer with the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and only the people at Notch who need it for their work can see it.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
Notch is not meant for anyone under 18. If we learn we hold data from someone under 18, we delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new date. If a change matters to you, we also email you at least 30 days before it applies.
